Do you not fit in the box that traditional maternity care has to offer?

Do you want care that honors your family and your beliefs?

Do you want a provider who sees the whole you? Of course you do.

But can there be safe, competent care outside the hospital setting?

Yes, this is what sets midwifery care apart. And this is my goal as your provider.

Meet the Midwife

I’m Jordyn. A recent graduate of Midwives College of Utah where I earned my Bachelors of Science in Midwifery in 2024. In the past four years I have attended over 200 births with many different midwives in my community, working at two birth centers and alongside two other solo midwives. This work is my passion. I’m so glad you’re here.

What’s different about midwifery care?

The midwives model of care reflects a holistic view of the expectant family. The midwife looks at the family’s values and desires and honors those, whether that is having a partner catch the baby or bringing the kids to your prenatal visit. You’ll see the same provider throughout your pregnancy and at your birth, which builds trust and safety.

Can all people receive midwifery care?

Midwives serve low risk pregnant people. What this means is that your overall health is assessed before your first appointment to make sure that there aren’t any conditions that may add complications to your pregnancy. When something comes up during the course or care or before beginning care, we refer to a hospital based provider. Keeping you and your baby safe is the highest goal.

Humility

As I gain more experience, I gain humility of spirit knowing there is always much more to learn. I aspire to be a life-long learner and provide care for the expectant family that both respects their values and provides them with a safe setting to birth and begin parenting.

My Philosophy.

Family

My business seeks to promote a family-oriented space where families have the opportunity to learn throughout their pregnancy experience. My goal is to provide competent care that promotes safe birth and growth of the childbearing family.

Accessibility

Rural Island & Skagit Counties have reduced access to maternity care. Many residents of these counties are farmers who are self-employed and cannot afford care in the hospital setting. My business provides exceptional care at a reasonable cost.

Scope of Practice

My boundaries in allowing you the power of choice are performed within my scope of practice as Washington State law allows; in this, my goal is to avoid any harm to you or your growing baby.

Life Changes

I support your pregnancy as a life-changing time, acknowledging the spiritual, physical and emotional growth that is to come.

Risk Assessment

As your midwife, I acknowledge you as a whole person and will accept that there may be times where another provider may be the better choice for you.

Do you have questions about fees & insurance coverage for midwifery care?

I have my CPM credential from The North American Registry of Midwives. I am still waiting on my Washington State Midwifery License, so in this in-between time I have two lovely Midwives to oversee my work. Angie Hotz, LM, CPM, the owner and primary Midwife at the Mount Vernon Birth Center, as well as Rachelle VonGrey, CNM, ARNP.

It is not only that we want to bring about an easy labor, without risking injury to the mother or the child; we must go further. We must understand that childbirth is fundamentally a spiritual, as well as a physical, achievement. The birth of a child is the ultimate perfection of human love.
